Wake up this morning planning to watch How to Train Your Dragon but the starts way to late in the evening so I decided that I take any movie between V3, another malay movie and The Tao Fighter: Woochi. So I watched The Tao Fighter: Woochi, very weird movie I am pretty sure have no idea what the main character role in the movie. Here the trailer
The first thing you notice how bad the CGI during the opening scene, I mean really bad CGI scene from the 12 Blades or 14 Blades was much better. The subtitle also was bad using unbold font really hurts your eyes when trying to read them at the same time watching the movie.
The story aren’t that interesting its about mischievous Woochi and his buddy caught up between a battle of the Taoist Gods and several Goblins (but I swear they look like rabbits). All of the trouble due to one pipe flute which demonstrate no special power in the movie but for some reason goblins crave for it, and so it happens that Woochi mistakenly taken it to his master for keeping which resulted his master death. I like the fact that Woochi locked in a drawing during the Korean Dynasty by Taoist Gods and released in the 21st century of the modern world where all the action will be. Including some weird fighting style, head spinning camera motions and awkward hero moments.
Since the movie was not serious in creating heart beating plot, it reallied on several side characters that will sure tickle your funny bones. You will probably the side characters actions instead of Woochi when the movie end.
I rate as 4.5/10

Seriously? This is one of the best movie in the market now but due to Malaysia Gov capability in editing and censoring the movie, the movie makes no sense to most people.
And no, I felt that The CG is much better than most available HK movie. The idea looks cheesy but the execution is nicely done.
The subtitle you can blame again the malaysian movie board. Their inability to truly understand the movie before translating it resulted in bad translation. Which makes partially your summary of the movie wrong.
Overall I felt that this is a much movie that should be available and watched on DVD with proper subtitle.
Your rate at 4.5 is under rated.
The movie itself should be at around 8.5 but due to the censorship and the bad subtitle, I would give it still a 6.
